James (Jim) Pierce, BS, M Sci., REHS, President of Sierra Horizons, Inc..  He is also the president and CEO of a non-profit corporation called Nevada Health Network, Inc. that is committed to the health of all Nevadans.

He is a member of the National Environmental Health Association and the Nevada Environmental Health Association.

He has worked in the environmental health field for more than 33 years, primarily in regulatory compliance and held the position of Environmental Health Manager, overseeing compliance for over 6,000 food establishments, hundreds of pools, spas, child care facilities, institutions, septic systems. 

He was involved with the development and updating of many regulations, specifically: food establishments, pools, spas, hotels/motels, childcare facilities.

He was the Safety Officer for the Division that has about 450 employees in 50 locations throughout the state of Nevada.

As a hearing officer for the Nevada Health Division for three years (1993-1996), he decided cases involving health care of within senior are facilities, primarily in Las Vegas.

He was the safety manager for the Nevada Department of Transportation that has over 1,600 employees and 50 work locations. During this time he developed many safety programs and plans, provided a monthly safety e-newsletter for all employees.

He was also the Loss Control Manager, for NDOT developing a new claims system in 1996, which saved the Department more than 12 million in claims costs in four years. Premiums in 1996 were approximately 1.8 million but had dropped to 1.3 million with premium refunds of about 2 million during those four years.

He has worked with the Nevada Department of Transportation and the Nevada Division of Health to solve problems, provide advice and write regulations. (2007 - present)

He is a graduate of the University of Nevada-Reno with a B.S. and M.Sci. in biology.  He has attended many courses and seminars related to food safety and epidemiologist  while with the Nevada Health Division. 

He has lived in Nevada for over 45 years and currently lives near Minden, NV.
